Here’s the latest project from my Painter in Residence Jonathon Marc Mendes. It has his stamp all over it: the thoughtful colour combinations, the clever mix of styles and influences, the excellent paintwork and, of course, typography! Everything started when an education blog mistakenly shared Aja’s painting of the Eiffel Tower as Van Gogh’s. However, the Eiffel Tower was completed in 1889 and Van Gogh died in 1890, having spent his last years in the south of France, so it’s very unlikely that he even saw the iconic tower.
